The Third Symposium on Language and Health (First Announcement)

Language is closely related to health. On the one hand, language serves as an external indicator of people’s physical and mental health, and language disorders are external manifestations of human health problems. On the other hand, language is humanity’s most important communication tool; appropriate expression and active application of language play a crucial role in maintaining and promoting people’s physical and mental health. Meanwhile, language can regulate people’s physical and mental health, acting as a vital resource for health promotion and applicable to the prevention and intervention of physical and mental health problems.
To explore the health functions of language, the School of Foreign Languages, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, hosted the 1st and 2nd Symposia on Language and Health on May 21, 2023 and April 27, 2024 respectively. To further advance scientific research and social application in the field of language and health in China, the School of Foreign Languages, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, will convene the 3rd Symposium on Language and Health on November 22 - 23, 2025. Co - hosted by the National Research Center for Language and Health and the School of Foreign Languages, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, the symposium will invite relevant leaders, academic experts and industry pioneers to deliver keynote speeches. We sincerely invite all experts, scholars and colleagues to attend the event and jointly promote the progress and prosperity of language and health research in China.
